Lab grown Diamonds

Dear valued customer

Once upon a time, only natural diamonds existed, and jewelry business was pretty straightforward. Since lab grown diamonds emerged on the market ten years ago, it was just a matter of time for us to accept growing demand from our buyers and simply start selling them.

Our professional opinion

We as a factory do not promote our opinion which one is better – the natural or the synthetic one, commercially called the “lab grown”. We are just using materials that our B2B customers want to sell on their own regional markets. However, we do hold a big responsibility to maintain our internal inventories and correctly declare each sold stone, and for that we take the full responsibility. It is certainly possible that you, as our esteemed customer order multiple pieces of jewelry with natural diamonds, and the rest with the lab grown, no problem at all – we will make sure to mark them clearly distinctive from each other.

If an order is received, for example, with just a short comment “set diamond”, we will then set the natural one in accordance with our default quality standard – G+/SI1+.

The difference

There is no physical or chemical differential factor between natural and synthetic diamond. It is also very important to emphasize that the most of available diamond testers on the market will exclusively detect the natural diamond in case of the lab grown, as they are both made of crystallized carbon. For more information on the topic, you can try to make your own research, and surely do not hesitate to call us with some specific dilemma you might have on this subject.

Anyway, both type of stones will look exactly the same in all aspects, and only the special types of diamond testers will tell the difference. Of course, the packaging and the price will be the distinctive factor. Nonetheless, lab grown diamonds over 0,3 cts. come with gemological certificate very similar to natural diamond certificate, but there are two mayor differences though – lab grown diamond certificate is colored in yellow instead of blue as in case of natural diamonds, and of course there is a clear textual sign. All certified lab grown diamonds have a laser inscription on the girdle – “laboratory grown” in a form of a prefix to a certificate serial number.

The price

Synthetic crystallized carbon structure in raw form is much cheaper than natural uncut diamond, while the price of cutting and polishing is, of course, the same. Due to the same manufacturing costs, the price drop is only 30% in case of tiny stones, where processing costs are most prevalent in a final price calculation. However, in case of bigger stones, the price difference is, logically, considerable, and very attractive to a customer as well. Furthermore, fixed stone setting cost for small stones additionally equalizes the price for both natural and lab grown diamonds and consequently natural diamonds represent a logical choice.
